Charlton Moore graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1989 where he was a letterman in football, baseball and basketball. His senior year Mt. Carmel won the Illinois State Championship, starting a three year championship run. He was a varsity starter in baseball and was selected to the All-Catholic League Team, also in 1989.
He started his college baseball at Triton Junior College, where he was a member of their 1990 NJCAA World Series team. After a year at Triton, he moved on to Chicago State University on a full athletic scholarship. While at CSU, Moore was named team MVP in 1991, hitting over .400 and leading the team in hits, homeruns and RBI's. His post-secondary career culminated in being picked in the 1992 MLB amateur draft by the Philadelphia Phillies.
Coach Moore spent three years in the Phillies organization, suffering a devastating achilles injury at the AA level. After re-hab, he continued to play professionally with the Mobile Bay Sharks (Independent League), the Merriville (IL) Muddogs and the Will County Cheetahs.
Upon retirement, 'Big Skip' became a high school math teacher coaching high school baseball, spending a year at Carver Military Academy. He then taught for seven years at Hales Franciscan High School where he also served as the Boy's Dean. He is a co-owner of the Academy and currently assists Seton Academy's baseball program.
"The five tool player is a hard worker, coachable, able to adjust quickly and accept constructive criticism. Ultimately, a player must be a student of the game if he expects to advance to the higher levels."
